NASU OAU — Protest Continues, to Affect Students’ Resumption

Non Academic Staff Union of Universities(NASU) OAU chapter has vowed to continue protest, until issues surrounding legality of new OAU VC is resolved by the court, on July 6th, 2016.

NASU Chairman Comrade Wole Odewunmi said

“We will continue protests till we resolve this issue surrounding who becomes the new VC.”

When asked about fate of students who are meant to resume on Sunday, June 27th, 2016, Comrade Wole said ” We cannot do anything until we settle this issue, we are not on strike but Faculty Screening, Library registration, Departmental Screening will be stopped until we resolve this issue.”

The NASU Chairman further said “I cannot assure anyone of availability of Power Supply and Water.”

A member who pleaded anonymity stressed that “If Stalites resume, they will only be left stranded as no major activity will go on especially in Academic areas.”

It will be recalled that Fresh Students of the Institution have been unable to go on with their Departmental and Faculty registrations due to NASU and SSANU protest.

Meanwhile, Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities have protested the legality of Professor Salami’s emergence as OAU VC. Both groups have filed a case at a Federal High Court Sitting in Osogbo, which is set for ruling on 6th July, 2016.
